My take on bibimbap

Gosh, the months have just flown! Haven't done much except for trying to grow a sourdough starter and baking sourdough bread.  Haven't been very successful.  Will post later.
Here, I will post my take on bibimbap.

I love this because it can be made very healthy.   I serve this with a small serve of brown rice.
Topped with a mixture of raw and fried vegetables with a sprinkle of sesame oil and served with a silken tofu and sea-weed soup.  Yum

Juices

We have been trying to consume fruit and vegetable juices more regularly after watching the
show 'fat sick and nearly dead'. The show is about an obese Joe Cross who travelled the US for 2 months and lived on juices. At the end of the trip, he lost weight and no longer have to take medication for his allergy problem.  Interesting.

Beetroot, carrot, orange, tomato and lemon

Kale, spinach, green apple, cucumber, celery, ginger

Good old soya bean milk, starting with soaking the soya beans overnight

The only problem is I haven't found much use for the residue (okara) yet, other than adding a bit of it when I make bread.

Another Vegetarian Meal

Stir fried baby bok choy

My favourite.  Fried bean shoots with shredded carrots, spiced bean curd and a bit of kiam chye.

Just added some cauliflower to curry from previous day.

Meatless Meals

We are going meatless for the next couple of months.

Firm bean-curd, potatoes and zucchini curry

Mixed Vegetables

Sweet and spicy tempeh

Chinese cabbage and sweet corn soup

Parks we frequent

Jells Park

Blackburn Lake

Warrandyte River Reserve

Sustenance for our walk from The Bakery, yum...

Dandenong Ranges

One of our favourite places to visit is the Dandenong Ranges.  We just take a short drive up with a picnic basket, go bush walking, browse in quaint shops, enjoy delicious devonshire tea or savour award-winning pies on Mt Dandenong.

Blue Lotus Water Garden at Yarra Junction

Last Sunday CK and I made a day trip to Yarra Junction to visit the Blue Lotus water garden. This is a 14-acre display garden/nursery of different varieties of lotus and waterlilies.
I think it is the end of flowering season but nevertheless the garden was very tranquil and has lots of benches along the path for people to sit and enjoy the surroundings.

Lillies

the beauty of nature....
We had a late lunch at a cafe in Warburton, and detoured to Healesville before returning home.  All in all, a wonderful day.
